Our starting point was our client’s perspective: a center for cardiac medicine that regularly receives national and international awards and ranks among the leading institutions in the field.
Doctors and researchers at Charité Berlin work here in highly specialized teams—recognized for their excellence in medical care, research, and patient care. This work environment called for a space that fosters both concentration and collaboration.
Our task was to translate these requirements into a sustainable work and research environment and to transform a historic building into a modern tech hub—while respecting its history and looking clearly toward the future.
Spanning approximately 800 m², the space features work, research, and collaboration areas for 20 employees that blend openness with structure: communicative spaces with flexible layouts designed for interdisciplinary dialogue, such as the former lecture hall with its integrated LED wall, the former archive with custom-built fixtures that comply with historic preservation regulations, and the open kitchen, which serves as a social hub. Clearly defined zones for focused work complement the space.
