Industrial charm in a showroom for a former research laboratory

The listed property Rohrdamm 22 with a rentable area of approx. 12,000 sqm spread over 6 floors is to be converted into an attractive overall package of rental space and public areas for new tenants. Initially, a showroom on a sample area of approx. 260 sqm on the ground floor was specified and implemented.

History

The historic building Rohrdamm 22 is located in the Berlin district of Spandau, in the so-called Siemensstadt. It was built between 1916 and 1920 and originally served as a research laboratory and administration building.
In order to preserve the original historical character, exposed brick walls were integrated, the ceiling grid was left open and the floor was asphalted. The aim was to preserve the industrial touch.

The furniture is partially clad with expanded metal and is based on four square tubes for the typical industrial character. The lamps were selected with the corresponding industrial charm.

There is also an area for open workstations and informal meetings. Special care was taken to emphasize the architectural design and maintain the spaciousness.

The six-floor, U-shaped building was designed by Hans Hertlein and is architecturally very similar to the Siemens administration building.

Kinzo’s planning services included a utilization concept for the entire building, including also proposals for the top floor and outdoor areas.
